On November 25th 1960 the three Mirabel sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, were killed by order of the Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo. In 1999 the UN decided to designate this date to raise awareness about rape, domestic violence and other form of violence.

According to the OMS, one third of women around the world experience some sort of physical or sexual abuse. In most cases the abuser is the partner or a member of the family. In Europe 27,2% of women above 15 are victims of abuse.

To fight this social issue, we must come together and unite our voices to spread awareness and ask our governments to take more responsibility for the problem.
