Although nowadays we all think it is a southern dessert, in reality marzipan has a history inextricably linked to the city of Venice. In fact, the first codified recipe dates back to 1300 by the city of Venice which, as a rich maritime republic, was able to find the rarest and most precious goods and spices, such as sugar and almonds.

Venice claims the origin of the marzipan recipe also for an etymological reason; in fact, the name derives from the Latin "Marci Panis" (the bread of San Marco).
The Venetian recipe is not only good to savor, but also beautiful to look at, thanks to the Venetian pastry chefs who create real works of art.
