Frittelle are the typical Venetian Carnival dessert, born in the 14 century and become the national dessert of the Serenissima Republic in 1700. Traditional frittelle, or frìtole in Venetian, are made with butter, flour, milk and sugar, sultanas and pine nuts, fried and served with a sprinkling of caster sugar. Today, pastry shops in Venice also serve frittelle filled with cream, zabaglione, pistachio and chocolate.
So, in order to taste the best frittelle, ESN Venice has organized a tour to discover the most typical Venetian frittelle, going to taste them directly in the best pastry shops of the city. We will walk towards the pastry shops in calli full of masked people in the magic atmosphere of Carnival. At the end participants will be able to vote for the best frittella in Venice!
