Discovering Venexia: Palazzo Grimani

Are you curious to discover a Venetian nobility's palace dating back to the Renaissance era?

Join us for the visit to Palazzo Grimani!

The original mediaeval building was purchased in the 16th century by Antonio Grimani, doge in 1521, who, together with his heirs, renovated it, inspired by the forms of classicism.

The rich interior is decorated with outstanding stucco and frescoes executed by mannerist artists such as Fancesco Saviati, Giovanni da Udineand Federico Zuccari.

At the Palazzo Grimani Museum, there is also a large monograph of "Chim" Seymour. He was one of the founders of Magnum Photos | A section entirely dedicated to Venice.

 

When: Thursday 22nd February 2024

Meeting point: 4.40pm in front of Palazzo Grimani

Registration: Jupiter platform or at the office

Deadline for registrations and payments : 20th February h 8.00 pm

Fee:

2,00€ (for 18 to 25 years old).

14€ for people 26+

Free admission: students in degree programs, master’s degree or post-university master, PhDs of the following faculties: Architecture, Cultural heritage conservation, Education Sciences or Arts and Philosophy with archaeological or history-artistic specialization, Academy of Fine Arts (must present a valid enrollment document for the current academic year)

Free entrance for owners of Venetian Heritage Membership Card, valid for two people

You can pay by bank transfer or at the office.

L'originario edificio medievale fu acquistato nel XVI secolo da Antonio Grimani, doge nel 1521, che, insieme ai suoi eredi, lo ristrutturò ispirandosi alle forme del classicismo.

Il ricco interno è decorato con pregevoli stucchi e affreschi eseguiti da artisti manieristi come Fancesco Saviati, Giovanni da Udine e Federico Zuccari.

Al Museo di Palazzo Grimani è conservata anche un'ampia monografia di "Chim" Seymour. È stato uno dei fondatori di Magnum Photos | Una sezione interamente dedicata a Venezia.
